About the event
Have you ever gone looking for a board opening and found nothing?
You were not doing anything wrong. Boards mostly do not post the seat. Somebody taps you on the shoulder, and that part never gets explained. This is the night somebody explains it.
Your guide for the evening is Carlos Arenas, Workforce Development Manager at Latino Academy and a board member at the Center for Community Stewardship. He works with professionals whose careers are built with their hands and all kinds of tools, which is part of why we asked him to present. Professionals come in all different shapes and sizes, and a professional's tools go beyond a phone and a computer.
What will you take away?
The role of the board, and what they do. What it will cost you, in hours and in money. The three ways a seat opens, including the two nobody mentions.
